Steve HOWARD

Steve Howard is widely acknowledged as a unique global strategy advisor and integrator, passionately committed to encouraging the leadership role of private enterprise and citizens, more generally, in working with governments everywhere to help shape global affairs. Over the past 30 years, Steve has led the formation and successful execution of strategy for a number of Australian-based private sector organizations, most notably as founding Secretary General of The Global Foundation from 1998-present, as Executive Director of the Committee for Melbourne from 1989-1995 and as Executive Director of the Sydney Tourism Marketing Board from 1987-1988. Concurrently, Steve Howard has, for the past 20 years, managed his private advisory firm, Global Agenda Pty Ltd, which provides high-level advice to a select group of large private and public companies. He also serves as a director and owner of a number of other private companies. For the past 15 years, Steve has been at the forefront of building closer cooperation between Australia, China and the world, on large-scale projects, including the first Liquid National Gas contract between Australia and China. More recently, Steve Howard has led the private sector contribution to Australia’s national food plan, including commitments by both major Australian political parties to enable long-term expansion in investment, production and exports of Australian food. In recent years, Steve has served as Vice-Chairman of the Global Private Equity Alliance, and as Chairman of the advisory body for Australia's international television service.  He is very active in the evolution of the G20 at global level and is a regular speaker at a number of global private sector and think-tank events. Steve Howard holds a Bachelor of Social Science from Deakin Univesrity and has completed the Senior Executive Program at London Business School.  He has been awarded the French honour as a Knight in the Order of Merit for his contribution to France-Australia relations and he retains close European links.
